RURAL CARE NORTH DEVON

Welcome to rural care, where we aim to provide high quality, individualised, client centred care to service users in their own home in the same way we would expect our own loved ones to be cared for at home.

Set up in 2016. The main reason for establishing the agency is to provide personal care to service users in towns and predominantly rural areas and outlying villages. We have recognised that there is a shortfall in the social care sector for these people. The agencies main office is at the Caddsdown Business Support Centre, Bideford, North Devon.

Rural care will offer experienced staff, who have had relevant training in all aspects of care needs and will assist the service user to stay at home where possible and to remain independent. Care needs will be tailor-made to each individual’s personal requirements and will be reviewed on a regular basis. Service user choice, dignity and respect will be at the forefront of our assessments when planning and implementing care.

Our business is registered with the Care Quality Commission who will regulate the care service provided. They will assess the agency and ensure we are providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led service in line with current legislative standards. These legislative requirements will be assessed and reviewed regularly by ourselves through regular phone calls, reviews, audits and routine checks, which will then be demonstrated to the Care Quality Commission.

About Us

WHO WE ARE:

Lesley Yeo and Kerry Johns are joint owners of the agency and are committed to running and leading a team who will have the skills and knowledge to provide quality, consistent and goal-achieving care to the service user. Both managers live in rural villages, which are central to the area we are aiming to cover. Kerry and Lesley are aware of the large agricultural community around them and that there are some very remote villages and hamlets which they are very keen to service the care needs of the people in those areas.

As managers we both have valuable knowledge, skills and expertise in providing social care and working with individuals in their own homes. Kerry and Lesley both possess many years’ experience of working in the healthcare sector within the NHS. This being mainly community based working in local district nursing teams, which latterly involved working from a ‘community hub’ which incorporated health and social care professionals working together to provide the best possible care and ensuring people remain at home. We have qualifications that support our knowledge, skills and experience in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and risk assessing care needs of service users in their own homes.

Kerry has been a registered general nurse for 14 years. Kerry progressed to obtain her Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Health Studies while still working as a Community Nurse. More recently she has been a clinical team leader in a busy district nursing team. Kerry has worked with many patients in their own homes over the years providing clinical care and assessment to people with varying needs, disabilities, long and short term health problems.

Lesley has worked in district nursing teams for 14 years. During this time, she has been involved in implementing change and practice within local district nursing teams with the aim and intention of improving quality of care in patient’s own homes. Lesley has achieved a Higher National Certificate in Health and Social Care, Certificate of Higher Education in Healthcare Practice and a foundation Degree in Healthcare Practice. Prior to this Lesley worked for Marie Curie for 6 years providing palliative care support in peoples’ own homes. This involved a lot of decision-making and providing support and compassion to family members as well as the individual being cared for. This role gave Lesley a strong grounding in providing end of life care.
